I am a technology specialist at a school in the Adirondack Park in Upstate NY. Recently I have focussed my learning journey on how to effectivley have young students communicate with technology. It has been eye-opening. I am also exploring self-directed learning with technology. I also learn from my students as the caretaker of the school garden. Farm2school is our new initiative to grow some of our cafeteria food, put more local food in the menu and make lunches healthier. My environmental club students love to work in the garden. I have been involved in the planning and production of the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit held for the past 5 years. This student summit provides access for high school and college students to learn from experts in the field and to act locally reducing their schools carbon footprint. "The Resilient Ones, a new generation takes on climate change," is a new PBS documentary about our students. I enjoy canoeing, kayaking and sailing. I build the small craft I paddle. Someone once told me "it must take around 100 hours to build a kayak, I don't have that kind of time." The way I see it, you can spend 100 hours building a kayak, or 100 hours doing something else, and at the end of it not have a boat to enjoy.
