In business, my profession is human resources and I specialize in the area of compensation/ rewards & recognition. At its most basic level, the purpose of my work is to advise businesses how much to pay their people.

But nothing is as basic as it seems. What it really is about is understanding the organizational culture & how employees are valued.

That is where Diversity comes in. Diversity programs within a company are critical in creating valued & valuable employees by

  • Opening doors &
  • Bringing those from the outside - in.

Some people stop there believing that Diversity is only about creating opportunities for underrepresented groups. But that understates the true impact.

What is sometimes overlooked is the value that is created for the ones already “inside”.
