Dominee Pratt

Camden Nj

Personal
Hi! My name is Dominee Pratt, and I’m a young African American woman. I come from a small city called Camden. I have four brothers and two sisters. I am also the mother of a beautiful little girl name Lai’ah. My daughter was born premature at 33 weeks because I had pre-eclampsia, which is an issue involving high blood pressue and high protein levels. It was scary and exciting at the same time. The experience of having a premature baby and noticing how well the doctors and nurses provided care helped me choose my future career.

I want to become a nurse practitioner. I want to deliver babies and care for them after their born. My life has been amazing since I had my daughter. She gives me more drive because everything I do I do for her. Failure isn’t an option for me because I want more for myself and her. I remind myself that she’s watching; thus, I will never quit.

School
I was the first to graduate high school and the first to go to college. I attended Empire Beauty School. I received my cosmetology license in 2012. I even completed some C.N.A classes after I had my daughter. I received my licenses as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I also did some security class which took three days. I received my SORA license and in August of 2012, and I was ready to become part of the top flight security team (You had to see the movie, "Friday" to get this one!). Curerntly, I attend Camden County College. I’m studying Pre-Nursing.
