Dominic Carter is a survivor of severe physical abuse and child sexual abuse. Dominic's upbringing his been a heart-wrenching journey. He also spent time in the New York City Foster Care System. Dominic Carter puts a "human face" on the experiences of many foster children. (and victims of Child Abuse) Dominic Carter's grandmother raised him in the Bronx, New York. Dominic's mother was often institutionalized with Mental Illness, labeled a "Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenic."

Children are often incapable of expressing their emotions and suppressed feelings are real. Dominic Carter planned on taking to the grave his life secrets. Dominic believed those secrets were so horrendous and embarrassing.

Dominic Carter is thankful for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents. Thankful for the excellent work they do, day in and day out, saving lives.

Dominic Carter credits his Grandmother Anna Pearl Carter, and his Aunt Inez. He knows they saved his life.

Dominic's Grandmother was from Augusta Georgia. She lived her life with the motto "Each one, Teach one." This was before Dominic Carter even knew what Each one, Teach One ever meant.

What Anna Pearl Carter did for Dominic's life has been worth more than Silver and Gold. She could have left Dominic in Foster Care, but she took a stand for her grandson.

Dominic's grandmother passed away. God permitted her to live long enough
