I am professor of Land Use and Transport Planning at Aalto University where I belong to the Spatial Planning and Transportation group.

Career
My academic career began at Bristol Polytechnic (now UWE) where I started out as a researcher in 1990. A few years later I moved to UCL as a research fellow (alongside part-time lecturing at UWE). In 2001, I moved to Delft University of Technology after being awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship, a European postdoctoral research grant for young talented academics. I worked in Delft for 20 years before moving to Aalto University in 2021.
Publications
I have published more than 100 academic journal articles and over 40 book chapters. Many of these articles are highly cited, including contributions to Planning Theory and Practice, and disP - The Planning Review. I have also co-edited seven books.
