Have worked 30 years + in structural/ civil engineering design, last 10 yearsas a 3D modeller using Bentley Microstation and its verticals as my preferred software; also AutoCAD and some add-ons but consider the Bentley suite superior for multi-disciplinary application in a networked environment. Majority of my clients are in the mining sector but I have some years experience with petrochemical and LNG projects. Fully conversant with major structures in both structural steel and reinforced in-situ concrete; driven and bored piling, pile caps, heavy foundations, on-grade and suspended slabs, retaining walls, framed beam and column structures, crusher containment, trestle footings, conveyor spread footings and so on. I have some appreciation of elastic & plastic design, seismic (plastic hinge theory, inverted k-brace design, base isolation), limit state loading, etc. Australian steel and concrete design codes are familiar, sourced on line to ensure use of current data and I try to keep abreast of trends in structurally efficient building methods. Teamwork is the cornerstone of efficient project delivery, as is use of the best available methodology and software; therefore I take an interest in relevant developments and try to keep my skillset current. To this end I have subscribed to the Bentley 'Be Employable' initiative, downloading and practicing with the V8i version of their software. Personally I believe I am committed, thorough and efficient; although I find myself intolerant of sloppy work practices on the rare occasions they manifest. I have no problem accepting new ways of working and constructive criticism is welcomed; generally I will offer help where it is requested and see no problem asking if I need assistance. I enjoy my chosen field of endeavour.
