Donald Casey
Chief Editor and detailer in California
Hi there! My name is Donald Casey, Chief Editor of DC Car Care. I enjoy the entire process of breathing new life into a vehicle. For the 24 years that I have been in the car care industry, I've taken on the most challenging car detailing projects. I can start with something that's neglected and will not stop until it's perfect.
But I did not start as a professional. In my teens, I would get in trouble for charging friends for half-baked detailing jobs. However, soon enough, friends and family started asking my opinion on various car topics. And that's when I knew I was on to something.
I really wanted to study car detailing in college, but my parents would not hear of it. It's not like there was a college offering such a course. I planned to stick it out with my uncle, who owned a garage. But first I had to go to college. So, I took a detour and convinced my parents to take me to CalArts. That's the California Institute of the Arts, where I learned Painting and Drawing. I was not good at it because my heart was somewhere else.
After my graduation, I set up a shop in San Francisco. During my endeavors, I noticed how many people were coming in with various car problems that you can do at home. But I needed the money. So, I charged them for simple things such as de-stinking the interior and lubricating hood hinges. All the while learning how to get around polishing imperfections and scratches to a shine.
I can now say that I'm professional in my area, thanks to my passion for cars. I'M BUSY SCRIBBLING TIPS TO MY ONLINE AUDIENCE when I am not adding gloss to the clear coat. You guys fuel my passion. Every customer that comes to my shop gives me more ideas on how to make your car better.
