Welcome to my page! As a graduate student at the University of Memphis, I spend a significant amount of my time working on various research projects such as the social media course for journalism and public relations majors. You can read all about this project on my blog at www.thesocialmediaeducator.com.
I graduated from the University of Memphis in May of 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Marketing). Shortly after graduation I started Clearview Consulting Group, a marketing and advertising consulting company specializing in assisting small and mid-sized businesses excel through specialized marketing and advertising campaigns. After years of late nights working on client projects and doing more financial work than I ever wanted to do, I sold my portion of the company to my brother and hit the job market. A few employment opportunities later, I realized that I enjoyed the PR aspect of business more than marketing.
This discovery landed me back at the University of Memphis in the journalism department where I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Journalism with a PR concentration. This journey has been awesome. Great friends. Awesome experiences. And fantastic professors. As usual, I discovered something else about myself. I want to teach. My professors have had a profound impact on the way I view myself and the world around me. I hope that one day I will be able to have that effect on others.
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my husband, Joseph, and my two sons, Micah and Zac. As if the three boys didn’t tie up enough of my time, I have three cats – Packer, Puma and Lil’ Bit – and a dog (who thinks he’s a cat) – Monty. Feel free to contact me via e-mail or connect with me!
