I am a retired Chicago Police officer on a journey to find and understand my ancestors.
I began this journey to learn about my family, my father is gone and so is his family, my mother and her older sister are the only ones left.
I have no stories other than the ones I can remember growing up. My mother and I were brought up in the era of, "children should been seen and not heard" and "little pitchers have big ears", so we were not privy to "grown folks" conversation.
I hope to find my ancestors and in doing so create a sort of dialogue that I can share with my children and grandchildren.
