Donna Klariz Baluyut

Student, Musician, and Teacher in Philippines

Listen to my music

I am Donna Klariz L. Baluyut, a 3rd year college, currently taking up Bachelor of Music, Major in Music Education Emphasis in Voice, under the tutelage of Associate Professor Eugene A. Delos Santos, DMA, at University of Santo Tomas. I have been a choir member of Liturgikon Vocal Ensemble since 2016 and I am currently the Internal Vice President. I have been a scholar of Friends of the Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP)since 2019.

I have always loved music ever since I was a child but I never had formal music lessons until I enrolled in the Conservatory. It is the best decision that I have ever made. I consider myself lucky for having the opportunity to take my dream program for free. There are times that I feel sad because I wanted my childhood to be different. I wish my parents hired a professional who could teach music to the “young Donna”. But I understand that it was impossible at that time because there were no music schools around our residence.

My goal is to spread the beauty of music, not just through performance but through music education. I want to make up to the “young me” by being a music teacher in a public school or offering private lessons. I believe that music education is for everyone. It is given to me and I want to extend it beyond me.
