Hello, I’m Donnell. I am a philosopher of religion whose work focuses on the ways faith and suffering overlap and inform each other in Black American Protestantism. My scholarship focuses on modern religious thought, religious ethics, and the Black Intellectual tradition, with a particular interest in the writings of Frederick Douglass, Ralph Ellison, and Søren Kierkegaard. I hold a B.A. in Sociology from Morehouse College and an MDiv from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. I enjoy reading, writing, playing tennis, and listening to music in my spare time.
