CEO and Entrepreneur in Manhattan Beach, California
When talking about the spirit of entrepreneurs, one would be hard-pressed to find a better example of this concept than Don Ressler. He has been one of the driving forces behind several prosperous start-ups.
Like all successful entrepreneurs, of course, Don Ressler had to start somewhere. It turns out that Ressler began his foray into the world of entrepreneurship by stating up FitnessHeaven.com. This company was bought in 2001 by IntermixMedia. Of course, this was just the first in a string of very successful start-ups for Mr. Ressler. He went on from there to team up with the Chief Operating Officer of Intermix, Adam Goldenberg. Together, the two business savvy partners formed Alena Media. This marketing arm of Intermix drummed up hundreds of millions of dollars in funds over the years. In 2005, Goldenberg and Ressler saw their division being left out in the cold after Intermix was purchased by News Corp. This led to the duo striking out on their own to blaze a new path.
The team of Ressler and Goldenberg knew that they had a track record for online advertisement success. They tossed around some ideas and came up with what would soon be known as Intelligent Beauty. This company was a brand that marketed and sold directly to consumers. Their first product was an Internet marketplace for cosmetics and skincare called Dermstore. This was followed up by the popular weight loss system they developed called Sensa. It didn’t take too long before Ressler and his partner were able to drum up some serious funding for their venture. In 2008, Technology Crossover Ventures invested $43million in their newest project.
Intelligent Beauty soon spawned another company called JustFab. This company was also able to drum up serious financial funding from more than a few big names. In 2012, JustFab had more than six million members. JustFab expanded into other markets over the years. It has since acquired ShoeDazzle, the popular online retail shoe site. Even though Ressler has been a remarkable success over the years, he continues to get involved with new projects. He currently serves as co-CEO of JustFab Inc., in addition to serving as the Chief Operating Officer of yet another spinoff company called Fabletics.
