DONTE GIBSON is a writer and editor making his mark on the world. A native of Dallas, Texas, Donte first gained experience with his high school yearbook. From there, he picked up odd jobs working for his church newsletter, The Top Informer, and various freelance projects.

After high school, Donte attended the University of North Texas — eventually majoring in English Composition and Language. While there, he served two years as a staff writer for the college’s annual publication, The Aerie.There he achieved many accolades, including sharing a 2004 Texas Intercollegiate Press Award.

After college, Donte worked on a multitude of projects, including serving as as a Freelance Content Editor for M. Barnes Design (now Dreamhaus Communications) and being part of the initial staff for the now defunct Pegasus News. He also contributed music reviews for hip-hop website Okayplayer and wrote a few profiles for Inc. Magazine‘s 2007 Inc. 5000 list. More recently, his work has been featured on sites like Black Web 2.0, Young, Black Professional Guide, Politic 365 and QBR.

Currently, he serves as the senior editor for music and culture website SoulBounce and works as a freelance copy editor.

Donte relocated to Brooklyn, New York in 2007 and can always be found working on a collection of short stories and poems and hopes to one day finish his first novel.
