I've been taking things apart since I was old enough to hold a screwdriver. Mostly it was just curiosity, but sometimes I'd be able to fix whatever was broken. Cars, computers, whatever. Lately I've been having fun building LED luminaires that remind people of Back to the Future, or a Tim Burton movie, or the current Steampunk trend. And I recently learned Rhino CAD software and bought a printer, it's getting ridiculous.

I've also spent the last 30+ years on the performance of large computer operating systems, mostly UNIX. I was the primary architect of SarCheck, a commercial UNIX performance analysis tool and I am still involved in its maintenance over 20 years later. A spinoff from this was the creation of digital art based on programs written in FORTRAN. I find them more interesting than fractals.
