Dr. Don Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Louisiana State University. He received his BA in Psychology from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University.

His research interests broadly falls under three areas: 1) personality and individual differences at work; 2) managerial decision-making; and 3) applicant perspectives in selection. Some of his current projects focuses on the bright and dark sides of risk-seeking employees. Specifically, when and why do risk takers behave badly or heroically. Secondly, he is interested in how non-traditional interviewing tactics (e.g., using “Oddball Personality Questions”) affect the applicant experience during recruitment. Finally, he is interested in how managers make HR decisions at work.

Dr. Zhang has extensive experience in a variety of applied settings. His consulting work involves area of employee selection organizational culture, and performance management. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of psychology, management, and organizational behavior such as the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Applied Psychology: an International Review, and Journal of Business and Psychology.
