Four years ago, the greatest moment in my life happened when my son was born. I'm beyond lucky to have him in my life. There were challenges with raising a son, but I didn't have a choice. Diapers don't change themselves, and kindergarten doesn't accept you if you're not potty trained.
There were personal challenges as well. And I did have a choice. Too often, I made the wrong one. Notably, I went from being at my best health to being at my worst. It wasn't a steady decline; it was a roller coaster. In those 4 years, there were a lot of firsts, not the least of which were 2 marathons and 2 triathlons. There were also long periods of inactivity and food binging.
Now, I've accepted the Dopey Challenge: 4 races, 48.6 miles in 4 days. I have 9 months to do it. And do it proudly.
