Dhriti Pippiri
Student in Atlanta
Hey there, I’m Dhriti. I’m a student living in Atlanta. I am a fan of politics, food, and movies. Something that people may not know about me is that I love to read. I remember thinking that reading was just about boring nonfiction textbooks, so I never gave it a chance. But that all changed when one day, my friend in elementary school introduced me to reading by showing me the Percy Jackson series. Ever since then, I've not only been a huge Rick Riordan fan (I've read almost every book he's published) but of also many other series. I love reading mystery, romance and fantasy series. My new favorite series is the Poppy War Trilogy by R.F Kuang, and I am reading her works after enjoying her trilogy. Reading is important to me as it allows me to express myself and escape into the fictional world of the author. I am able to understand their thought process and it allows me to become more open minded and knowledgable about other ideas and perspectives. Now that I am older and a more mature reader, I am trying to get into reading classics, however, it has been really hard for me to get interested in them. I am currently reading “The Count of Monte Cristo” which is a pretty heavy and big novel but with time I am confident that I can tackle it. In English 1102 I'm excited to have more books and other stories to read and explore, and hopefully I can find my new favorite books in this class. My goal by the end of this year is to read 2 more books that are in my to be read list (I have a huge problem with adding books to my list instead of actually reading them.
