A native of the state of Ohio, Doug Borthwick was born in Cleveland before moving to New Concord to attend Muskingum College. He excelled as an undergraduate student, winning the Wall Street Journal Award, the Financial Executive Award, and the Adam Smith Award, before earning his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Business, and Religion with magna cum laude honors. Doug Borthwick then moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he earned his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. Once again, his outstanding academic achievements earned him recognition, this time in the form of a Dean’s List Academic Scholarship and the Public Service Award. Over the course of his career, Doug Borthwick has been admitted to practice law in several courts throughout the United States, including the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and all courts in the state of California. Mr. Borthwick holds membership with many bar associations. Active in his field, Doug Borthwick is a member of several professional organizations, such as the American Association for Justice, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, and the International Amusement & Leisure Defense Association, Inc. Mr. Borthwick has participated in seminars for the latter two associations. He is also a member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and the Defense Research Institute.
