Hi! I’m “Doug”. A few months ago I relocated to Mexico City. Specifically to an area near the southern edge of the city. The place is called “Tlalpan”. I have lived most of the last 30 years in the San Francisco Bay area. I raised a son there, and worked as a Geographic Information Systems Analyst at a public agency for many years. It was a really cool and interesting job. I had been in that line of work for a long time, so in 2010, I completely switched gears and became a scholastic chess teacher for the Berkeley Chess school in Berkeley, Ca. (another really cool job!) Last year, I decided that since I have been blessed with great health – that I should “get out more!”. So here I am. The purpose of my blog is to share with my friends and acquaintances about what it’s like to live down here. “Here” is a big house with the house members all being natives of Mexico City. Lifelong natives here are endearingly referred to as “Chilangos” . I don’t live in a gated community. I live in a small neighborhood called a “pueblo”. Mexico city is a vast sea of many of these small pueblos strung together.
