(New picture coming soon!)

Hi! My name is Douglas.

So who am I? Well, I am a:

- Software developer
- Consultant
- Data cruncher
- Wannabe game developer
- Speaker
- Author (pending)
- Conference organizer
- User group leader
- Trained musician
- Re-aspiring triathlete and golfer

I am a software developer focusing on data and mobile solutions. The languages I use the most are (in alphabetical order) C#, JavaScript and Python. I develop mobile applications across the major platforms (Android, iOS, Windows 8, Windows Phone - again in alphabetical order) using both native, Xamarin and HTML5 technologies. Most of the backend work that I do is services supporting these mobile applications which is done in Node.js. All of the data analytics are done in Python. I also work with the Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.

This year I am also trying to make the transition into being an author. My goal is not to author both books and training videos. Look for announcements about upcoming releases on Udemy and/or LeanPub.

I also participate in the software development community as a speaker, user group leader and conference organizer. Recently I have spoken at CodePaLOUsa 2014 in Louisville, KY, St. Louis Days of .NET 2013 in St. Louis, MO, and DevLink 2013 in Chattanooga, TN. I am also a frequent speaker at local user groups. See for a complete list of my speaking experience. Over the past several years I have been involved in organizing several conferences. In 2012, I was on the organizing committee for two Memphis TechCamps and in 2014 for the PyTennessee conference in Nashville, TN. Finally, I am also the co-director of the Memphis Python User Group.

If you would like to discuss a project, job opening, or speaking opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact me. Also, don’t forget to follow me on Twitter: @poweredbyaltnet.
