Douglas Pond

International finance professional, specializing in impact investing and micro finance. Chief Commercial Officer for Opportunity International, providing small business loans and financial solutions to fund expansion and business growth in Mozambique. Serving as a commercial loan officer in banking since the '90s, Doug has worked in Africa and Vietnam, providing financial services in emergent economies. Doug Pond lives his beliefs, in terms of social responsibility and financial impact.

In Mozambique, he is responsible for managing the bank’s branch network, as well as leading outreach, transformation, capital raising and the agriculture program to expand operations, implement strategy and drive business growth.

He has been a part of the leadership team that has accomplished some of the following over the last three years:

• Implemented donor funding of USD 5.6 million, raised an additional USD 6.1 million in donor funding and USD 3.5 million in debt financing.
• Savings clients have grown from 15,109 to 51,170 and loan clients have grown from 6,759 to 18,241
• Designed, developed and implemented a financial literacy program that reached over 6,000 people and an agriculture program that has reached over 5,000 smallholder farmers

Originally from Chicago, a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, with an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Doug Pond is an analytical problem-solver who delivers financial programs that make a difference in emerging countries.
