Downtown Millburn

Downtown Millburn is a welcoming, charming, and sophisticated town with a distinctive blend of shops, boutiques, and fine restaurants. We are also the home of the Paper Mill Playhouse, a nationally recognized theater and playhouse that dates back to 1938.

There are approximately 500 retail, office, and commercial properties located in downtown Millburn. The boundaries of the SID district are: from south to north, Main Street from Willow Street to the Paper Mill Playhouse; from east to west, along Millburn Avenue from Douglas Street to Locust Street; along Essex Street from Millburn Avenue to Douglas Street; and Spring Street, Lackawanna Place, and Holmes Street between Millburn Avenue and Essex Street.

Since its establishment in 1992, the Downtown Millburn Development Alliance (DMDA), the management corporation of the Special Improvement District, has made a significant positive imapct on the downtown area. The DMDA works cooperatively with property owners and businesses to implement initiatives, projects, special events and visual enhancements to make downtown Millburn a shopping and dining destination for residents as well as visitors.

The DMDA works closely with the Township on a variety of issues affecting the downtown. Traffic, parking and downtown maintenance are some of the subjects of mutual concern.
