Dr. Todd Kevin Young, a 54-year-old physician from Springdale, Newfoundland, has significantly contributed to healthcare in his local community and across the province. Despite growing up in a small town with about 3,000, his impact has reached far beyond his roots. He has worked in various roles throughout his career, including as a family doctor, emergency physician, educator, and healthcare leader. He is currently the Medical Director of Main Street Medical Clinic and the CEO of MEDICURO Virtual Health Inc., two companies that he founded and continues to lead.

Dr. Young’s path into healthcare began after he completed high school in Springdale. Initially, he chose nursing as his first healthcare profession, earning a Diploma in Nursing from the Western Memorial Regional Hospital School of Nursing in 2001. His nursing career took him to remote areas, including northern Ontario, where he worked as an outpost nurse in Indigenous communities. His time in these communities inspired him to pursue further education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Nurse Practitioner at Lakehead University in 2000.

As his career progressed, Dr. Young’s passion for medicine grew. He decided to pursue a medical degree and enrolled at McMaster University, where he earned his medical degree in 2004. Afterward, he completed his residency in rural family medicine at McMaster, focusing on providing care to underserved communities, and finished his residency in 2006. Continuing his education throughout his career, he earned an Executive MBA specializing in Occupational Health and Safety. Currently, he is working toward a Diploma in Dermatology at Cardiff University.

Dr. Todd Young’s medical career began with rural family and emergency care, serving communities in Ontario and Newfoundland. One of his key roles was as the physician lead at the Green Bay Health Center in Springdale, where he was responsible for overseeing medical care and ensuring high standards for patient treatment. His role involved managing resources in a rural setting, a challenge that is often more complex than in larger hospitals due to limited resources.
