Dr. Janette Nesheiwat is a double board-certified physician in Family and Urgent Care Medicine currently serving at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Her work at Walter Reed focuses on patients experiencing anomalous health incidents, commonly referred to as Havana Syndrome, including intelligence officials, diplomats, soldiers, and veterans managing complex neurological and vestibular conditions. Dr. Nesheiwat also cares for active duty military servicemembers with traumatic brain injuries. Additionally she serves in the emergency room at the VA Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Nesheiwat brings more than 15 years of clinical experience to her work. She previously served as the first female Medical Director for CityMD in Manhattan, one of the country's largest urgent care networks, and led frontline medical teams in New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier in her career, she worked as an emergency department physician at Washington Regional Medical Center, Eureka Springs Hospital, and Physician Specialty Hospital in rural Arkansas.

Beyond clinical practice, with her extensive medical leadership, she is Chair of the Make America Fentanyl Free Opioid and Mental Health Program, and has served as a speaker at the White House Opioid Summit. She is the author of Beyond the Stethoscope: Miracles in Medicine, published in 2024, and has led and participated in international medical missions in Haiti, Ukraine, Morocco, Africa, and Poland as a member of the Disaster Assistance Response Team with Samaritan's Purse and Rescuers without Borders.

Dr. Nesheiwat earned her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she was selected as a Chief Resident and received the Chief Resident Award for Courage and Innovation. She was nominated by President Trump to serve as U.S. Surgeon General during the second Trump administration.
