Dr.M.L. Saraf

We have amids us Dr. Murarilal Saraf a pravasi Fathepur vasi who has made India proud in the field of Total Joint Replacement. His career is full of gold medals and prizes. It is said that he has never stood second in any field or examination he has competed. He is invited nationally and internationally to participate in prestigious seminars and conferences. He has been the Governors nominee in the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and IIT Powai.

He was the first Indian to be awarded the internationally renowned Norman Roberts prize. His patients include the KNOWN AND FAMOUS in the corporate world, film personalities, political and social leaders to name a few like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Shankarraoji Chavan, Dilip Kumar, M. F. Hussain, Mr. G.D.Birla. He had the honor of looking after Bill Clinton the president of USA. Hamid Karzai President of Afghanistan at the request of Government of India.

But his heart is always in treating the very poor. He has conducted large number of camps looking after more than 10000 Polio and Orthopedic patients at their own door step. He had operated almost 20000 patients at the KEM Hospital & the general wards of Bombay Hospital free of cost. This has earned him the title of Rajasthan Ratna by a social organization of our state.

A Rotarian dedicated to its cause was awarded the Professional Excellence Award by the Bombay South Rotary. Friends the handicapped are his first love and he has been a member of the Global Technical Committee of the Jaipur Foot for last 30 years. They have fitted more than 75000 feet to make the handicapped mobile.

Dr. Saraf known for his brilliant academic background culminating in being the first Indian to be awarded Norman Roberts prize from the University of Liverpool. He has been the medical adviser to President of Afghanistan his Excellency Hamid Karzai and President Bill Clinton of United States.

Medical profession involves vocational excellence with significant stress on education but unlike all other professions care of the poor is the most important social commitment of a Doctor. He has pursued this objective with superlative vigour in from of total free care of poor all through his life time.
