Dr. Manuel R. Vegas, originally from Burgos, Spain, is a highly skilled plastic and reconstructive surgeon currently based in Madrid. He graduated magna cum laude from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, earning his PhD in 2012. Dr. Vegas completed his Plastic Surgery Internship and Residency at Doce de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid. He is a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS, 1996) and a Diplomate of the European Federation for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH, 1998). His advanced training includes prestigious programs at Canniesburn (UK), Stanford (US), and Uppsala (Sweden).
Dr. Vegas served as President of the Spanish Association for Microsurgery from 2014 to 2015 and remains an active member of numerous national and international plastic and hand surgery societies. He has been an EBOPRAS delegate for over a decade. Demonstrating his commitment to medical management, he completed the Healthcare Management Program at IESE in 2007. Dr. Vegas currently leads the Microsurgical Section of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service at Ramon y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Vegas is dedicated to training plastic surgery residents across various Spanish hospitals and frequently reviews articles for several national and international surgical journals. He has authored or co-authored over 25 publications in leading international trauma and plastic surgery journals and has been an invited surgeon and lecturer throughout Europe. He also serves as a clinical professor at Alcala University.
