Greetings, Dr. Aftab Alam is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at M.C.E Society’s Abeda Inamdar Senior College (Autonomous), Pune. He currently serves as Controller of Examinations, Chairman of the Board of Studies in Economics, and Nodal Officer for the Academic Bank of Credit implementation. With a Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University on the role of small-scale industries in India’s exports post-1991, Dr. Alam has guided multiple doctoral and postgraduate research projects, focusing on entrepreneurship, pharmaceutical exports, and sustainable development.

He has authored and co-authored several textbooks in Business Economics for B.Com and BBA programs, and contributed scholarly chapters to edited volumes on Islamic economics. His research includes a UGC-funded study on SMEs in Pune and a patent titled “The Pharmaceutical Business Segment Selection Model.” Dr. Alam has received multiple teaching awards and held key administrative roles in academic governance and examination systems.

Dr. Aftab Alam is an accomplished academic and researcher with over two decades of experience in economics, development studies, and policy analysis. He has published more than 30 research papers. He has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences, including recent contributions on circular economy, climate impacts on agriculture, and sustainable consumption. His work spans topics such as microfinance, social entrepreneurship, interest-free banking, and SME resilience post-financial crisis.

Dr. Alam is a life member of the Indian Economic Association, The Indian Econometric Society and affiliated with global bodies like the World Economics Association and the International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS), Japan. He has actively participated in faculty development programs, NEP 2020 training, and interdisciplinary workshops on AI, GenAI, and research methodology.

He has served as a resource person, panelist, and technical session chair at various academic forums, and is known for his commitment to inclusive, sustainability-driven economic discourse. His academic engagements reflect a deep interest in rural development, financial innovation, and educational reform, especially in the Indian context.
