Dr Abhijit S Powar

Dr. Abhijit Sampatrao Powar is an Advanced GI Endoscopist & Surgeon, trained in endoscopic management of gastrointestinal tract cancers from Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam (Netherlands, Europe). He has completed MBBS from prestigious King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and MS - General Surgery from well-known B.J. Medical College and Sassoon Hospital, Pune. After post-graduation, he did a Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery from Coimbatore. He has subsequently worked as an Assistant Professor of General Surgery in the Government Medical College, Miraj. He worked as a visiting consultant at various private hospitals located in Mumbai. He worked as the head of the department of General Surgery and Gastroenterology at Siddhagiri Hospital and Research Centre, Kaneri, Kolhapur.

Currently, he is practising as Medical Director and Chief Consultant of Saraswati Surgical Gastroenterology Hospital, an advanced Gastrointestinal Speciality Hospital located in Ichalkaranji and associated with various nearby Multispecialty hospitals.

His main area of research interest has been in Thoracic Duct Pathologies, Thyroid Diseases, Pancreatic Pathologies, and Tuberculosis, newer clinical aspects. He is active in recent trends in G.I. Endoscopy and hepatology. He has published over 10 papers in National & International peer-reviewed journals. He is on the Editorial Board of Annals of International Clinical and Medical Case Reports(USA), Med Text E-books on Surgical Oncology, and Annals of Surgery Protocols(USA). He is the peer reviewer of Journals like World Journal of Surgical Oncology, Cancer Research and Cellular Therapeutics, and Global Journal of Cancer Therapy.
