Dr. Abigail McNally

Dr. Abigail McNally, a clinical psychologist with a private practice in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, informs her work with nearly a decade of clinical experience and education. At her practice, Dr. Abigail McNally uses a theoretically integrative approach that variably focuses on unconscious, affective, cognitive, and behavioral factors as necessary for each unique patient. She has advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). She works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families.

In addition to her work in private practice, Dr. Abigail McNally has also served as Director of Psychology Training at the Two Brattle Center (TBC), a private treatment facility also located in Cambridge that specializes in treating behavioral dysregulation, suicidality, and borderline personality disorder. As Training Director, Dr. McNally supervised both post and pre-doctoral students, taught courses in psychodynamic psychotherapy and intake assessment, and observed and conducted intake evaluations.

Prior to her work at TBC, Dr. McNally served as Assistant Clinical Director of Laurel Hill Inn (LHI), a residential facility dedicated to the treatment of eating disorders. There she worked directly with patients suffering from anorexia and bulimia nervosa, employing an integrative approach similar to what she uses in her private practice. Dr. McNally also assumed various administrative duties at Laurel Hill Inn, including the development of group treatment modalities, crisis intervention, and staff supervision.

Dr. Abigail McNally earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Brown University. She immediately continued her education at Boston University, where she received her Master’s degree and completed her Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus on therapeutic change processes during the treatment of addictive behaviors.
