An economist and researcher with over 25 years of experience in the infrastructure sector, Dr. Allan Wain serves as a fellow of Harvard Law School’s Pensions and Capital Stewardship Program. He investigates the function and significance of infrastructure for institutional investors, pension funds, and overall society. Author of a multitude of essays on the social, environmental, and investment worth of infrastructure to economies in transition, Dr. Allan Wain has also co-written a book published by Melbourne University Press on the appraisal of the benefits of hydrologic information.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Allan Wain previously worked as head of new ventures for KPMG Australia and served as a principal economics and finance adviser to the national government. He has overseen assessment and financing of infrastructure for offshore oil and gas projects as a former chief economist for BHP Petroleum. For five years, Dr. Wain held positions with Hastings Funds Management as head of strategic development and a member of the Equity Investment Committee. In 2015, he joined the infrastructure investment manager CP2 as head of research and strategy.
Broadly educated, Dr. Allan Wain possesses qualifications in fields ranging from engineering to business administration and has studied at such institutions as Stanford University and the University of London. He fulfilled postdoctoral studies in economics at Imperial College after receiving a PhD in economics and finance from the University of Melbourne.
