The founding partner of Neurological Surgery and Spine Surgery, Dr. Andrew Zelby has more than two decades of overall experience treating patients. From this Westchester, Illinois, facility, the board-certified neurosurgeon and his team assist with various spinal conditions, including minimally invasive surgery, as well as brain and peripheral nerve conditions, as well as perform evaluations for worker's compenation injuries of all kinds related to the spine. In his care of patients, Dr. Andrew Zelby favors conservative treatments and only turns to surgery when necessary.
Andrew Zelby, MD, grew up in Oklahoma and enrolled as an undergraduate at Oklahoma State University, where he graduated with high honors with a bachelor of science in physiology with a minor in English. During college he also worked as an interim manager and programmer with Bio-Logic Software, Inc. He went from college directly to the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. There, he earned a doctor of medicine with distinction.
Remaining in Oklahoma, Andrew Zelby, MD, began his clinical training with an internship in general surgery at Oklahoma Teaching Hospitals. He then moved to Chicago where he completed a neurological surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center. During his last year, he also spent six months working as the chief resident in Cook County Hospital's Department of Neurosurgery. Dr. Zelby then completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. After graduation he worked as an assistant professor of Neurosurgery and assistant professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center before leaving and then establishing Neurological Surgery and Spine Surgery.
