Dr. Bruce Hugh Dorman, MD, has practiced extensively in anesthesiology since graduating from Duke University School of Medicine. Following graduation, he completed a fellowship in pediatric and adult anesthesia at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. Between 1988 and 1990, he served as chief resident before becoming a fellow in cardiothoracic anesthesiology. In 1992, Dr. Bruce Hugh Dorman, MD, became a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Dorman has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals, particularly during his time at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston as a full professor of anesthesiology. A selection of these articles were presented at anesthesiology meetings at the national level and led to several awards and grants for Dr. Dorman from national organizations including the American Heart Association. His anesthesiology writings have also been incorporated in major medical textbooks as well as his own textbook, Anesthesia for Orthopedic Surgery. He has also functioned as a staff anesthesiologist at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and at Fredericksburg Anesthesia Associates.
