Dr. Carl Giordano
Named a Top Surgeon by the Consumer Research Council of America, Dr. Carl Giordano has spent the last 22 years with Atlantic Spine Specialists in Morristown, New Jersey. He is an expert in minimally invasive procedures as well as advanced techniques such as total disc replacement surgery. Dr. Carl Giordano also consults with pain management specialists and neurologists adept at managing challenging spinal conditions.
Dr. Carl Giordano graduated from the School of Medicine at Rutgers University. He completed general surgical training at Beth Israel Medical Center and New York University Medical Center, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Carl Giordano studied spine trauma at Harborview Medical Center before returning to the Hospital for Joint Diseases for a year-long fellowship in spinal reconstructive surgery. He has been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1996, and by the American Board of Spine Surgery since 1998.
Outside his practice, Dr. Carl Giordano serves on the advisory boards of several orthopedic device manufacturers, and previously chaired the Orthopedic Spine Sub-Committee of the Atlantic Health Hospital System. He also held a series of committee posts with the American Board of Spine Surgery.
Dr. Carl Giordano has written several chapters in leading spinal textbooks and authored articles that have appeared in national medical journals. For four years, he edited Spine Focus Newsletter, and early in his career, he spent a year as the Resident Advisor to the Orthopaedic Resident Journal.
Dr. Giordano has been awarded research grants from McGaw, Inc., and Acromed/Isola, Inc., to study various spinal conditions. In 1993, he was accorded the Marian Frauenthal Sloane Award for Outstanding Orthopaedic Clinical Research.
