Dr. Cathy Wittman
Optometrist in Lubbock, Texas
In 2008 the corporation I formed purchased a dirt lot surrounded by dirt lots, and in 2013 I secured an SBA loan and found a builder to construct my building to house my practice, Wittman Vision. Construction was completed at the end of April 2014. Prior to construction I drew my floor plan for the building and gave it to a local architect along with a complete set of architectural plans that I hired a large local firm to design so that he could trim down their architecture and integrate my floor plan. I did the interior design myself, and my husband, Greg, executed my plans. He installed the slate tile on the wall behind our front desk, the white textured wall tiles behind our dispensing bar, and the bronze textured veneer finish on the front of the counters. Greg also created my frame boards to display our glasses. He picked out and installed our phone system, created a wired network for our computer system for security and a wireless network for other applications. He installed and implemented the features offered by the EMR that we chose. I created my webpage and began heavily promoting my office (and myself-- bashful entrepreneurs are not often successful) on social media. I am thankful for the many advisers who I sought out for advice. In the end the secret to my success in completing this project was hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance.
