Dr. Colin Knight is a distinguished Pediatric Surgeon, educator, and former Air Force Flight Surgeon, dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of future generations. He currently serves at Kendall Regional Medical Center and holds an academic position as Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Knight began his academic journey at Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry in 1991. He continued his medical training at the University of Virginia, receiving his MD in 1995. Following a surgical internship, he joined the United States Air Force as a Flight Surgeon, providing primary care to pilots and their families. His military service included investigating aircraft mishaps and participating in operations during the Persian Gulf War, earning him the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

After leaving active duty in 2000, Dr. Knight pursued a residency in General Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital. During this time, he conducted groundbreaking research on the use of surgical robots in pediatric surgery, particularly in fetal and microsurgery. He completed his specialized training in Pediatric Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and was board-certified in 2006 and 2008.

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Knight is deeply involved in community health initiatives. Since 2010, he has served as Event Chair for Chefs Up Front with FLIPANY, an organization focused on addressing childhood obesity by teaching children the importance of nutrition and cooking. His commitment to fitness also led him to become a certified CrossFit trainer, further reflecting his belief in the multiple dimensions of health.

Dr. Knight’s contributions to the medical field are extensive. He has authored numerous publications in journals such as the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and frequently presents his research at national conferences. His topics have ranged from trauma in pregnancy to the role of sleep and fatigue in pediatric health.
