Dan Richards

I am a self taught photographer, whole has learned by exploring my equipment, and books by experts, and working to improve my skills. I find I love to work in the creative field, of photographic art, landscape, wildlife, and urban and street. I do digital art, some graphic work, and write. Even though school ruined most myloves when I was in high school, I later rediscovered them, and have worked to develop my own skills in all of them. I learned poetry by reading Keats, Byron, and Many other of the greats. Photography, I learned by reading many books on the subject, and practicing and experiementing. Digital art, I learned by studying what others have done, what programs they used, and then developing my own skills.

What is Beauty

It is the color of an autumn morning, in the breaking light
The sight of a spring flower in first bloom
The scent of the woods after the rain
And the feelings of a good friend

It is the strokes on a piece of canvas that makes a lovely painting
The work of a fine sculpture of a woman with her child
The pleasant décor of a field in bloom
The assuring smile of a friend and love

It is the color of a blue jay sitting on a branch
A cardinal fluttering from tree to tree
And a chickadee singing his song
Your kind words when I am down

It is the honeybee gathering the pollen
A dragonfly’s iridescent hues
A ladybug crawling on a leaf
And the knowledge that you care for me as I care for you

It is all things intertwined to make a whole
Neatly woven into an arresting picture
Deeper than just the view, but coursing through the living soul
Beauty is inside of you
