Dr. David Gershan

A family and HIV primary care specialist, Dr. David Gershan has practiced medicine in Northern California since 1993. His former positions include Medical Director for the San Mateo County Mobile (Homeless) and STD Clinics. Additionally, he served as a Civil Surgeon for U.S. Immigration medical examinations. Through the San Mateo County Health Department, Dr. David Gershan currently cares for patients infected with HIV. He also cares for patients at St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco.

In the academic realm, Dr. Gershan has spoken at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and Stanford University on various topics, including Alternative and Complementary Medicine, STDs, HIV, and Human Papilloma Virus. As a member of the clinical faculty at UCSF, Dr. Gershan contributes as an instructor and preceptor. Dr. Gershan began his own medical studies as a pre-med student at the University of California, Berkeley. He continued his studies at St. George's University School of Medicine and spent 12 months studying abroad in England. He completed his residency at the University of California, Irvine, Department of Family Medicine, after serving as an intern at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.

Beyond his professional duties, Dr. David Gershan has participated as a cook for Open Hand, a charity focused on providing food for the very ill. He also enjoys playing the cello and reading, and takes an interest in the U.S. Southwest and the spiritual in art and in medicine. Dr. Gershan currently resides in San Francisco.
