Dr. David Herzog

Cambridge, MA

Possessing a broad base of psychiatric and pediatric training and expertise, Dr. David Herzog serves as Professor of Psychiatry (Pediatrics) at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Additionally, Dr. David Herzog serves as the Harvard Medical School Endowed Professor of Psychiatry in the field of Eating Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Herzog began laying the foundation for his career at Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences. After completing his undergraduate studies, he gained acceptance to the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he received a medical degree with highest honors. Following this, he completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin before going on to become Senior Resident in Pediatrics at Boston City Hospital.

In 1976, Dr. Herzog began residency work in Child Psychiatry with Children's Hospital. Later, he became Chief Resident of the Psychosomatic Unit at Children's Hospital before completing his residency in Adult Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.

An active contributor to his field, Dr. Herzog maintained affiliations with a variety of professional medical organizations across the United States. These included the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association the Academy for Eating Disorders and the Eating Disorders Research Society. Furthermore, he served on the editorial board for a number of peer-reviewed publications, including the International Journal of Eating Disorders, the Harvard Review of Psychiatry, and the Journal of Adolescent Health. When not attending to his professional responsibilities, he enjoys pursuing various pastimes and activities, including golf.
