David Parrott (ex UF)

Dr. David Parrott has been involved in higher education administration for nearly three decades at both UF and U of L. He also has years of education, having earned undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate degrees before and while embarking on his career. David Parrott earned his doctorate in educational psychology with a student affairs administration emphasis. He successfully defended his dissertation on racial identity development while a doctoral candidate at the University of Louisville.

From assignments ranging from vice president for student affairs at the University of Florida (UF) to his current position as ADA and Title IX coordinator at the University of Louisville (UofL), Parrott’s career has always entailed broad-based responsibilities. He has also honed his considerable skills at the following additional institutions:

David Parrott states that the purpose of Title IX remained the same for the first 39 years. He further explains that the statute did not include guidance about sexual harassment in education until 2011. Over the years, he has seen the statute enforcement expand to protect students based on gender identity or sexual orientation.

According to Dr. David W. Parrott, Title IX helps to protect students from harassment and discrimination based on these factors.

During his tenure at UF, Dr. David W. Parrott took a stand for another type of equality — the open exchange of ideas often called free speech.
