Learning- as we experience, our perspective morphs and expands, and we grow- as individuals, organizations, and communities.
I’ve become completely entranced in organizational learning and development. As I grow and morph I learn more and more about my own journey, and constantly see the connections between vitality in individuals and the organizations closest to them. This has led to a refinement of perspective and the tools that I use when facilitating the creation of a learning organization. I consider myself a student of Peter Senge’s work, as I studiously absorb and research his approach to creating a learning organization. This has proven to be more challenging and probably more organic than my formal study of political science, because I’ve had the opportunity to study and apply it to real, live organizations. Digging deeper and deeper into his works- The Fifth Discipline, The Triple Focus, and The Dawn of System Leadership to name a few- I am reaching breakthroughs of my own. For years now I’ve noticed and then recognized my own mental models, lack of self-awareness, and systems thinking, then simultaneously noticed it in the organizations I was connected to, ever perplexed that I seemed to be the only one aware of it all. Somewhat recently it dawned on me- this is my thing.I’ve analysed, noticed, experienced, tweaked, and explored these things for most of my life- it is just my process, to everything.
So, here I am, purposefully trying to learn and create learning environments in the organizations I connect with.
