This reality is ever more real for Dre, considering that this harsh reality has plagued his immediate family. His brother was murdered, and his mother struggled with drug abuse, even serving stints in prison. None the less, Dre used barbering as a means to create a new life for himself. Dre deciding that college wasn’t his route. So after seeking the council of both his grandmother and uncle who both suggested he follow his passion, Dre decided to pursue barbering as a new career. He did what all true barbers do. He earned his reputation one head at a time. In 2008, Dre took a leap on faith and put Arkansas in his rear view mirror.
