Dr. Faten Aberra
An alumnus of Swarthmore College, Dr. Faten Aberra graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. After attending Dartmouth Medical School, Dr. Faten Aberra interned in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Faten Aberra remained at the medical facility to complete her residency between 1998 and 2000. While working as a fellow, Dr. Faten Aberra pursed her Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr. Faten Aberra currently practices medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Pennsylvania. Certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Faten Aberra holds a medical license for Pennsylvania. For the last seven years, Dr. Faten Aberra has served as a faculty fellow for the Center for Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics at University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine. An asset to the institution, Dr. Faten Aberra also operates as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology. An expert in her field, Dr. Faten Aberra has won a several awards. In 1989, Dr. Faten Aberra received The National Science Foundation Incentive for Excellence in Chemistry prize. The following year, Dr. Faten Aberra won the Pew Fellowship Award for Research in Biochemistry. Recognizing her extraordinary work in scientific investigation, Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society inducted her into its research honor society in 1993. Some of the other prestigious honors Dr. Faten Aberra has received include the Department of Medicine's Bradley Research Award and a Veterans Affairs Medical Center On-the-spot (OTS) award. Dr. Faten Aberra holds membership with the American Gastroenterological Association and Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). Dr. Faten Aberra also serves on multiple academic committees and reviews submitted papers for several medical journals.
