Dr. Gabrielle Morrissey
executive leader and sexologist in Sydney, Australia
I’m Dr Gabrielle Morrissey, a speaker, author, educator, sexologist and executive leader with more than 30 years of experience across Australia and the United States. My career brings together university teaching, public health, nonprofit leadership, writing, broadcasting, consulting and coaching. Across these settings, my work focuses on relationships, communication, wellbeing, leadership and meaningful change.
I hold a PhD in Health Science, specialising in Sexology, from Curtin University, a Master of Science in Education, specialising in Human Sexuality, from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, with High Honors, from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
I am the author of three internationally published books: Sex in the Time of Generation X, Urge and A Year of Spicy Sex. All three have been translated for international audiences. My communication experience also includes 22 years as a syndicated sexual health columnist, six years hosting talk radio and ten years contributing to television as a sexual health expert.
As an international keynote speaker and facilitator, I have addressed conferences, universities, professional associations, community organisations, business leaders and policy forums. For more than a decade, I delivered gender and sexuality seminars and workshops for the Young Presidents’ Organization across numerous countries. My engagements have also included the Australian Federal Parliament’s Roundtable on Women’s Safety and invited presentations on public health, inclusion, reproductive rights and nonprofit leadership.
My academic career has included appointments at Curtin University, Bond University, UTHealth Houston’s McGovern Medical School and Boston University, alongside teaching sexual health and HIV education at the University of Queensland. I have led postgraduate programmes, developed curricula and supervised research and community projects.
My leadership experience includes serving as Director of Population Health at NSW Health’s Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and Executive Director of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Houston–Galveston. I have also led nonprofit organisations working in youth participation, domestic violence services and recovery, and provided strategic advice to Sexual and Reproductive Health Australia.
Today, I bring this experience into my work through Bloom Boom Consulting, which I founded to support organisational strategy, leadership, governance, workplace wellbeing and psychological safety. I am also the founder of Press Differently and creator of The Button Method app and platform, providing coaching, personalised education and workshops around relationships, communication, boundaries and difficult life transitions.
I am a Certified Educator and Supervisor, a past President of ASSERT, and a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum, Houston Gulf Coast. Through speaking, writing, education and advisory work, I continue to help people understand their relationships, strengthen their leadership and turn knowledge into practical choices.
