Dr Haroutyoun Margossian
Director of Urogynecology in New York
Dr Haroutyoun Margossian is an experienced urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery specialist who practices in New York. He graduated from Damascus University Medical School in 1984, kickstarting a career that has seen him hold various medical leadership positions, contribute immensely to research and, most importantly, help hundreds of patients.
He undertook his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Claude Bernard University Hospital in Lyon, France and the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. For his fellowship, Haroutyoun Margossian attended The Cleveland Clinic Foundation for training in laparoscopic gynecologic surgery, and urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. Years of training have enabled him to treat various female pelvic organ disorders, including urinary incontinence, pelvic floor support defects, interstitial cystitis, and chronic pelvic pain endometriosis.
Over the course of his career, Haroutyoun Margossian has received several awards for research work and his work ethic. As a resident at Lutheran Medical Center, he was recognised with the Outstanding Resident of the Year distinction in 1994-1995. In 1999, he won the Golden Hysteroscope award from the Global Congress of Gynecologic Endoscopy. He also placed second for the Golden Laparoscopic Award at the same event.
As an established professional, Haroutyoun Margossian is an active member in a number of organisations that include the American College of Surgeons, the Brooklyn Gynecologic Society, the American Urogynecological Society (AUGS) and the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
