Dr. Innocent Okafor
A physician with more than 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Innocent Okafor has practiced family medicine on two continents. He devoted a decade of service as a general practitioner in West Africa, where he completed his initial medical training. Prior to emigrating to Canada in 2000, Dr. Okafor also served as President and Founder of the African Crusade for Health and Environment (ACHE), an organization aimed at providing health and development for disadvantaged Africans.
Dr. Innocent Okafor is currently an owner and operator of Phoenix Clinic, where he practices general medicine. At this comprehensive medical practice based in Brampton, Ontario, he provides treatment for individuals in search of early prenatal care, primary care, and services related to general wellness. He also currently works as a physician at the William Osler Health Center at the Brampton Civic Hospital.
Dr. Okafor is a 2005 graduate of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. In conjunction with his Canadian medical studies, he received advanced training at Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he completed a postgraduate residency. Prior to beginning his work as a physician, he studied at the University of Benin's School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 1990.
Dr. Innocent Okafor is an avid reader, and his favorite books include The Measure of a Man by Sydney Poitier and The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. He also reads contemporary authors such as Eckhart Tolle, Cormac McCarthy, and Rhonda Byrne. Actively involved in the Toronto Poetry Group, he writes poetry regularly and is currently promoting his debut poetry collection titled Calabash of Color. Dedicated to spiritual development, Dr. Okafor practices yoga and belongs to a Zen meditation group. As his schedule allows, he also participates in outdoor activities such as fishing, golfing, and horseback riding.
