Dr James P Anthony

Dr. James P. Anthony is a San Francisco-based plastic surgeon. His careeer is characterized by a commitment to advancements and innovation in the field. Dr. Anthony has been recognized time and again for outstanding work, by both patients and his fellow physicians alike.

Dr. Anthony attended Stony Brook University in New York, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. Subsequently, he went on to complete a General Surgery residence at Cornell Medical Center in New York. His Plastic Surgery residence was completed at the University of California, San Francisco, and following this, he joined the faculty for a period of twelve years.

During this time, Dr. Anthony performed a wide range of procedures. Among these were intricate reconstruction surgeries for people afflicted with breast and facial cancer, as well cosmetic surgeries. While working at the university, Dr. Anthony pioneered and refined numerous approaches to breast and facial reconstructive procedures. H has given presentations regarding this work at many conferences on plastic surgery, both national and international. The research has been the subject of more than 70 papers, and in excess of 60 presentations. Dr. Anthony trained more than forty plastic surgeons while serving as faculty at University of California, San Francisco.

In 2002, the doctor decided to open his private practice in the Bay Area. Here, Dr. Anthony chose to focus on the cosmetic aspect of plastic surgery, which is what he felt the most drawn to do. Patients may choose from a wide range of body, breast and facial procedures. Drawing on his vast experience, most procedures have been performed by Dr. Anthony hundreds, if not thousands, of times. The office provides its own surgery center, where patients receiving outpatient procedures may have their work performed. Dr. Anthony remains a staff member at California Pacific Medical Center and St. Mary's Hospital, both in San Francisco, where he can make accommodations when a procedure is better suited to that environment.
