Dr. John McGuire
Otolaryngologist Dr. John McGuire continues to contribute to the field of medicine. His past contributions are well represented by the many presentations and publications he worked on alone and in collaboration with others. For example, Dr. John McGuire recently gave an invitational lecture on “Geriatric Voice and Swallowing Disorders” at the Silvergate Community Center in Fallbrook, California. In September 2007, he co-presented “Static Facial Reanimation Using Barbed Polypropylene Sutures (Contour Thread),” to members of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Previously, the respected physician had also given presentations on titles that included “Cytologic Brushings of the Olfactory Mucosa: Preliminary Results,” “What Renal Transplant Patients Should Know About Skin Cancer,” and “Life Threatening Complications of Retropharyngeal Abscesses Caused by Community Acquired Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (CA-MRSA).”
Along with these presentations, Dr. John McGuire has also shared his knowledge through medical literature. For example, he co-authored the chapters “Pharmacologic and Molecular Therapies of the Cochlear and Vestibular Labyrinth” and “Pharmacologic Treatment of the Cochlea and Labyrinth” in the book Otolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery. He also wrote the chapters “Facial Trauma” and “Trauma to the Neck” in The 10 Minute ENT Consult, which was published in 2009. Dr. John McGuire also co-wrote a chapter titled “Molecular Genetics and its Applications in Otology” in Textbook of Otology, published in 2008.
Dr. John McGuire holds a Bachelor of Arts from Reed College, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and a Doctorate in Medicine from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.
