About Dr. Lackman
Dr. Lackman graduated from Saint Joseph's University; received his M.D. and completed his orthopaedic residency from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Following an Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in 1983 he returned to Philadelphia and became the first fellowship trained specialist in orthopaedic oncology in the Philadelphia Region . He has served as Director of Orthopaedic Oncology and Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University and later as Orthopaedic Oncology Director and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Hahnemann University. In 1999 he returned to the University of Pennsylvania as Chief of Orthopaedic Oncology. He was later named the Paul B. Magnuson Professor and Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery along with being named Residency Director in 2000. In 2012 prior to moving his practice to the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, Dr. Lackman had most recently served as Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery; Director, Sarcoma Center of Excellence; the Associate Director of Patient and Family Services at the Abramson Cancer Center at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Lackman initiated the multidisciplinary Orthopaedic Oncology Program and the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. The team provides excellence, experienced and compassionate care to all patients with tumors of bone and soft tissue.
Dr. Lackman has a prolific publication record and has served in leadership positions locally, regionally and nationally. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards in practice excellence, education and service. He has served as Past President of the Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society and Musculoskeletal Tumor Society.
