Linas Kumeliauskas

General Internist and Assistant Professor in Regina, Canada

Hi, I’m Dr. Linas Kumeliauskas. I’m a General Internist and Assistant Professor with the University of Saskatchewan’s Regina campus. My career in medicine has taken me across several countries and specialties, but I’ve always had a passion for patient care and medical education.

I was born in Lithuania, where I completed medical school at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. I then continued my education in internal medicine and gastroenterology at Vilnius University. I had the opportunity to further expand my experience with fellowships and clinical work in Italy and the UK before practicing as a gastroenterologist back home in Vilnius for several years.

Eventually, I made the move to Canada to specialize in internal medicine. I completed another residency at the University of Calgary and made Regina, Saskatchewan my home. I now combine clinical work with academic duties, and I genuinely love doing both.

Most of my work is focused on patient care. Many adults with complex medical issues come to my practice seeking personalized care. I've received lots of positive feedback from patients over the years, and that’s the most rewarding part of the job.

I am also involved in teaching. I'm currently an instructor for the internal medicine residency program in Regina, and I spend a lot of time with residents and medical students. I love working with learners because they challenge me to think differently, and I try to do the same for them. Whether in the classroom or on the wards, I strive to create an environment that’s supportive, curious, and based on real-world medicine.

I've served as Division Head for General Internal Medicine in Regina since 2023. I love my job because it allows me to assess how care is delivered and how our teams collaborate. I’m particularly interested in improving how we teach, communicate, and support each other in clinical settings.

In all aspects of my work, my goal is to deliver the best possible care and help create a stronger and smarter medical community. I’m proud to call Regina home, and I’m thrilled about the work that lies ahead.
