Prof. Arun Malhotra

“Nuclear Medicine is a branch of medicine that uses radiation to provide information about the functioning of a person’s specific organs or to treat diseases.”

Prof. Arun Malhotra served as the Head of Department, Nuclear Medicine at the prestegious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for 18 years. He joined AIIMS in 1986 as faculty. During his tenure he trasnformed the Department from a budget of Rs. 60 L to Rs. 22 Cr. He introduced various new technologies such as the Positron Emission Tomography (PET-CT) and Cyclotron.

He is a founding memeber of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and served as the President of Asia Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology and organised the International Congress in 2008.

He is a member of several International Associations and has served as an advisor to Atomic Energy Radiation Board (AERB), Radiation Medicine Center, Indian Council of Medical Rresearch and Govt. of India.

Having published 110 papers and authored 5 chapter in Nuclear Medicine books, he is cosidered an authority in the subject and is regularly invited as an examiner at various postgraduate institutes across the globe.

At present he is working as Prof. and Head of the Department at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Institute of Medical Science, Lucknow.
